The SCENIC Program is a multi-institutional project sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology uniting scientists from the Northeast Region, NCBS, IISc, Bangalore, and UAS to study the chemical ecology and biodiversity the Northeast Region of India. As part of this program, we recently held a program review and mini-symposium where all participants, including 14 PhD students, 8 postdoctoral scholars, and nearly 20 PIs met and discussed their projects. We discussed fungi that live within plants (endophytes), the use of insects as food (entomophagy), botanical insects repellents and pesticides, venoms, and much much more – all from the amazing diversity of the Himalayas.
